If there's anything that you're unsure of, or have any questions about, we encourage you to attend a monthly meeting or any of our drills to see what we're about and have your questions answered. You'll also start to respond to emergency calls and accrue points for LOSAP (Length of Service Award Program, which is similar to a pension).

The final step after being voted in by the membership body is to have the Gardiner Fire District commissioners vote to approve your application.Īfter all that, you'll be a probationary member of the Gardiner Fire Department! At that point, you'll be issued equipment, begin to participate in our weekly trainings and you'll also be eligible for state trainings. An arson and driving record background check will be performed and when those have cleared, your application will be presented and voted on during the next monthly meeting. Once your application has been received, you'll meet with the Investigating Committee to review your application. However, if you'd prefer, you can also mail your application to: Gardiner Fire and Rescue, P.O. Once you've filled it out, the best way to submit your application is to email it to or bring it to one of our monthly meetings, which are held on the first Monday of each month at 7pm. The first step to joining Gardiner Fire Department is downloading the member application and filling it out. Members of another department that have relocated their home or business to Gardiner are welcome to apply. The Gardiner Fire Department offers a Cadet Program geared towards 15- to 18-year-olds that are interested in getting involved early. If you're interested in becoming and EMT, the department provides free training through an authorized training partner.

If you don't have any training or experience, that's perfectly OK! The state and county offer free training for firefighting and technical rescue. Gardiner Fire Department is always looking for people interested in serving their neighbors and community by becoming firefighters and EMTs.
